Message from the Interim President
|
Dear »Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ Community:
Our new academic year is underway at »Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ, and a spirit of optimism
is evident throughout the campus. We welcomed our largest freshman class in history!
Our New Student Induction ceremony was held in August and the skies cleared just as
we began the procession to the Shannon Center. During my comments as interim president,
I shared the stories of our founders, the courageous women who envisioned better lives
for the poor, ill, and uneducated and lived accordingly. I reminded our students that
many of them are the same age as those who pioneered new pathways as Sisters of Mercy.
We expect great things from them, too.
Last spring, I completed 23 years of service as the thirteenth president of Aurora
University and now am enjoying an opportunity to help lead »Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ during this important
transition year. Our presidential search is underway. Already, consultants from a
nationally respected firm have interviewed members of the University family about
their hopes for a new president and the future of our University. The ink is almost
dry on the leadership profile that will be used to share our story with candidates
across the country. We are planning for a strong applicant pool and may even have
a chance to conduct some interviews before the holidays. You will want to follow our
progress on the Presidential Search webpage.
It hasn't taken me long to realize that Saint Xavier has much to offer its students
-- and a new president, too. I look forward to staying in touch this year and hope
you will hold us in your prayers as we conduct the national search for our next leader.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Sherrick, Ph.D. Interim President
