»Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ is approved by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) to offer a Secondary Education licensure program in Spanish (PK-12).

Requirements (33-36 credit hours)
This program is designed to provide a solid foundation in Spanish language, literature, arts, history and civilization. This option is intended primarily for those students who plan to teach Spanish at PK-12 Level as well as continue their studies in Spanish in graduate school.
This major focuses on the preparation of Spanish teachers according to NCATE/ACTFL and Illinois Content Standards for Educators.
Students in the Secondary Education - Spanish (PK-12) major must complete all requirements for Spanish Language, Literature and Civilization courses, achieve an overall »Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ GPA of 3.0 and complete all general education courses, and all professional education courses with a minimum grade of C to be admitted to Student Teaching.

Choose another 24 credit hours, 21 credit hours if studying Spanish abroad.
12 credit hours (out of the 21-24 credit hours for Spanish electives) need to be from courses in the 300-level.
